This project focused on finding, rescuing, remastering and representing the binaural soundscape composed by the pioneer of Cuban electroacoustic music, Juan Blanco.
The idea of an electroacoustic composition for the Hermanos Ameijeiras hospital lobby seems bizarre from our time, however it was a reality promoted by Juan Blanco in the early years of the Cuban revolutionary social project.
Today, in the course of history and in the continuous mutations of social assumptions, it is difficult for us to imagine that something similar could work in a country like Cuba. Our idea and perception of today overshadows the sensitivity of what was wanted.
Abstraction was untenable in a reality that became so stark. The sound was fragile.
The wear and tear of the pillars of yesteryear requires revisiting the initiatives of our parents and the nostalgia of times gone by. The appropriation and re-signification of this sound material gives room for remembrance in the ears of a generation that listens to another.
The skepticism is diluted in the voiced intervals.
The textual supplement that accompanies the piece as a sentence denotes the fundamental aspects of the sound composition: destination, duration and author; these agents activate the ulterior meaning of my gesture.
