BIO // MILTON RAGGI VINUEZA

Milton Raggi Vinueza (Havana, 1991) is a Cuban visual artist, curator, and educator. He completed his studies at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts (2006-2010) and obtained his second degree from the University of the Arts of Cuba (ISA) in 2017. He served as a professor of contemporary art at ISA until 2019. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Digital Media at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen (HfK Bremen), supported by a full DAAD scholarship, which has further refined his expertise in the integration of art and technology.

Raggi Vinueza’s artistic practice engages with complex themes such as power dynamics, control, systems, hierarchies, and the dissolution and collapse of political utopias. As an artist born in Cuba during the 1990s, his work is deeply informed by the erosion of revolutionary ideals and the evolving political and cultural landscape. He predominantly creates audiovisual performances and immersive installations that incorporate interactive elements. Through these innovative approaches, he critically examines the fragility of societal structures and the transformation of political ideologies, questioning their ongoing relevance in contemporary contexts.

In 2013, Raggi Vinueza co-founded AXIS.Visual Lab with Aaron Moreno, an interdisciplinary collective focused on the exploration of new technologies within the realm of art. Recognized as a pioneer of video mapping and large-scale audiovisual performances in Cuba, his work seamlessly merges creative expression with cutting-edge technological practices to create groundbreaking, site-specific experiences.

Since 2017, with support from the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, Raggi Vinueza, in collaboration with AXIS.Visual Lab, has developed the Art and Technology Laboratories (LAT) project. LAT aims to promote workshops, collaborative initiatives, and exchange platforms that foster the professional development of emerging creators and engage new audiences across Cuba.

Raggi has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the La Joven Estampa Award (Casa de las Américas, 2009), the Curatorial Award (Centro de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, 2011), the National Award for Curatorial Practice (Consejo Nacional de las Artes Visuales, 2018), the Estudio 21 Creation Grant (Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, 2019), the Emerging Artist Award from the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO, 2020) and the HfK Hochschulpreise  (Hochschule für Künste Bremen, 2025)
