The Ludwig Foundation started the LAT project in 2017, a program run by AXIS.Visual Lab dedicated to the development of art with technology in Cuba.
The project proposes a training action aimed at a diverse and multidisciplinary audience that can include artists, engineers, musicians, designers, architects, filmmakers ...; students or professionals. LAT hopes to develop and promote a platform for exchange and collaboration through knowledge and skills on Art and Technology.
The curriculum of LAT consists on media manipulation, visual programing, sound design and robotics. The classes expand in the span of 10 days’ time. Each workshop ends with a student exhibition.
The project is free of charge and we offer necessary equipment to the participating students. Decided on interviews we select 10-12 students for each round.
Open calls are announced through our social medias and our mailing list.
In the continues pursuit of growing our community, we help visual artist colleagues to produce their works and exhibitions. Also we collaborate with institutions and curators in diverse art spaces. This section is dedicated to these collaborations.
Each project we help conceive presents new challenges.
In our search to promote the production of art and technology in Cuba, we develop tools that allow us to solve complex problems.
These tools were created on a non-profit basis by/for artists and students who may find creative use in them.
